00 EB Expy vibration
I just bought a 2000 EB Expedition and recently notice a vibration at above 60 mph. Also, a slight whoop, whoop sound (I hear this at lower speeds). I have Goodyear Eagle GTIIs (275/60/17) on them, and they seem in good shape. What's the opinions on thses tires?
What could be causing the vibration? The tire guy said he did not think they needed to be balance, so we just rotated them. That didn't help. They are slightly wore out on the side, but not bad.
One note, when I bought the truck, the front tires had about 10 lbs pressure/the back 15-20 lbs. I put 40 lbs in them. Could this have caused some problems.
Is this the tires, or is there something wrong with my Expedition? If it's the tires, what tires do you guys recommend I get. I really want something quiet and smooth (I do a lot of highway driving).
Any help???

I'd try a balance job first to see if it helps. Find a reputable shop that also sells tires and make a deal with the manager. Have him balance the set and if it doesn't correct the problems, buy a new set from him and have him credit the cost of the initial balance toward the cost of the new rubber. This way you're not out an additional $30.
For thousands of opinions on tires, head to tirerack.com and read the reviews.
However, a balance issue doesn't usually make a "wup wup wup" sound - you may have a flat spot in one of the tires.
Also, FWIW, Goodyear tires are junk. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the tires are the culprit.
XXL
in the door jab reads....26 PSI front.....30 PSI rear.
But, in wake of the Firestone recall didn't Ford increase the recommended PSI to 30 front and 34 rear?
Does anyone have any "official notice" from Ford.
What pressure do you run at??
Thanks
