Variable Venturi Problem

One thought I just had. In the 5 seconds that the truck does run, sometimes I would blip the throttle just to see the response. It would initially respond well, but when I did it again it would bog down and die. In my mind this is a Air/Fuel ratio problem. For those that dont know, these carbs have adjustable jets that allow for the tuning of the fuel curve along the whole rpm range. The seller on eBay said that it was from a 302, and my engine is a 255. Could this be an issue of the jets being out of adjustment for my engine? I know that you adjust them through screwing in and out the jets, but Im not sure how to tell when I have achieved the right "setting."
If that was too much to read, my question is; could my issue be caused by the jets, and how do I adjust them?

Sounds like you are committed to making this carb work. I wish you luck. I’m a retired Ford mechanic. Those carbs rarely ran well when brand new and were nothing but trouble when they had a few miles on them. Great idea in theory but Ford’s design and application was a serious disappointment. Not saying you can’t make it work but there are many better fuel solutions out there that are far simpler and work far better.
