How can I find out if my truck is chipped. I've "raced" 2 of my friends 7.3's and I blew them both away BIGGG time . So I was just wondering if it has somthing, it wont go past 94 if that helps. It blows smoke on WOT So I dont know? BTW I drive a 2000 crew cab 4x4 w/ 83000 miles and the other trucks were ext cab 2wd and a ext cab 4x4????? Thanks for ANY help
My truck is from a previous body style than yours, so this might not be exactly right..... The pcm on my truck is behind the emergency brake pedal. To get to the pcm, I have to remove the plastic inner shield, then unbolt the pedal. Inside the fender, under the dash, you can see the "business end" of the pcm. My chip plugs into that. If your truck has a chip, it should be protruding from the opening on the end of the pcm.
I imagine the procedure is similar for a Superduty. Someone with a Superduty will be along to chime in, hopefully.
at least on the early 99's (i would assume its the same up through 2002) the chip is plugged into the pcm to the left of the clutch and right of parking brake. Undo the 10mm bolt in the engine compartment that holds the plug onto the PCM and then go in the cab and gently pull it out, pull the plastic cover off it and if you have a chip, there she will be. OBTW, put keys in your POCKET, not just off in the ignition, in your pocket or inside the house.
Yes 2000 PSD are on the passenger side, and if your "chipped" it will be obveous. You might have a " program" too. Did you by it used? Here , used dealers offer "programs" for sale with the trucks.
