NO, not my age! At 72 mph and up I get vibration. New and balanced tires, front end alignment and new u joints. I'm thinking about taking the whole driveshaft to the machine shop for it to get balanced. What do you guys think?
Yes, the new tires didn't seem to make any difference.
Thanks Rick, I don't know how to check on that?
On mine I loosened the rear straps & could move the joint where it bolted to the yolk side to side. I measured the distance ,& shimmed it on both sides

Just an update, it was the rear universal joint. It didn't have any slack in it but was stiff to move around. At first I didn't think there was a problem with it because it wasn't loose with lot of movement in it. Went for a ride its a lot better but not perfect vibration wise. I also wanted to change out the carrier bearing but for some reason couldn't get the slip yoke apart. I was afraid of forcing it apart and then couldn't get it back together again. Any thoughts on why it won't come apart?

Grease drys and clumps, a few whacks should do the trick. I would suggest you mark it before taking it apart, and also add a zerk fitting on the slip yolk (female side) this will require drilling a hole and tap for a zerk fitting, then you will have a serviceable part that will prevent wear and clumping of grease on the slip yolk
Finally found a place that balanced my driveshaft. This makes a big difference for me! I'm over 500 miles into my annual trip and now I can 'let it roll' at the bottom of a hill instead of burning up my brakes. Before it would shake the crap out of the rig, now its smooth over 70mph. Not that I like going that fast pulling 18K but its nice to let it roll at times. The machine shop added two weights on each side of the carrier bearing and that did the trick.
