Truck has 210k on it. Deleted. I was running about 60mph on freeway yesterday and for about 1/2 mile the truck was shuttering like it had only intermittent power.
it died as I coasted off to the shoulder.
popped the hood looked around didn’t see or smell anything. Battery light was on dash.
tried to restart it and it cranked But would start. BUT one wierd thing was it would keep cranking even when I returned the key to run position. It did this a few times until now all it does it jerk violently when I try to start it and won’t turn over. Battery voltage is 12.6 on both. the way it reacts when I turn the key now is exactly how it reacted last time I had a bad battery but these are only a few years old.
im going to try to pull the codes but as it’s deleted I’m not sure if I can. Any ideas here guys?
So a little update. I charged the batteries now it turns over. But no start. However it still stays cranking when I return the key to run. I am starting to suspect ignition switch.
I squirted wd40 into the intake while cranking and it fired but wouldn’t run. Also hearing a wierd loud gurgling at the rear fuel filter/pump. I’m going to try replacing that filter and seal as it’s been way past due for a change anyway.
More updates. I removed and replaced the fuel filters. The rear one had some aluminum particles in there which scares me that it could be the high pressure fuel pump.
I purged the system and then verified that I’m at least getting fuel to both filters so it appears that the low pressure pump is functioning to some degree.
More updates: More updates: I have 2 codes I retrieved. P2291 injector pressure too low and P0884 TCM power input signal intermittent.
I removed the fuel line on the engine mounted fuel filter output and ran a clear line to a jug. It pumps strong and clear no bubbles. I cut the engine mounted filter apart and found nothing metal in it.
