If you don't have push start, and have the flip key + fob like I do in my 21 and hate flipping the key open and closed all the time like I do, I found a regular style key that works. If you have 2 working keys you can program the new one right in the truck. Just need to get it cut.
The part number is 164-R8128
Flip style key + fob.
Regular style key.

Ford should provided at least one of those with the truck or sell them already cut. I don’t like taking the flip key/fob with me when I’m in and round water. Always have to put it in something water proof in those situations.

Agreed. When I purchased the truck I asked if it there were any key options other than the flip key. The dealer said no, which is the answer if you just look at the choices provided for the superduty in the system but I was pretty sure there would be something that would work so I did some digging. This one is just a plain transponder key. I actually keep both on my keyring now, and just use the other as a plain fob.
I have one of those. I couldn’t program it with my two factory keys following the method outlined in the owners manual, so I need to take it to the local locksmith and see if they can program it for me. I’ve had the key for almost two years now, but keep forgetting about it…

This method worked in my 21. Have 2 working keys with you plus the new key. Get in the truck, doors shut and locked. Key #1 insert and turn on and wait for 2 chimes, then turn off and remove. Key #2 insert and turn on and wait for 2 chimes, then turn off and remove. Finally insert the new key turn on and wait for 2 chimes. Then you'll see something about a code on the dash, turn off and remove and you'll see a message about the key being programed and you'll hear the door locks cycle. After that I was able to start the truck with the new key.
If you only use it to lock and unlock the door, do you need to program it?
That way I could leave the key with the fob in the truck and keep it dry.
No you only need to program it if you want it to start the truck. That's possibly a good use for a hide-a-key where you care slightly less if someone else finds it. They could get in the vehicle but couldn't start it. If you don't have the door code feature that might make sense.
You do need to program it for the vehicle to start though, I tried starting the truck without programming it by holding my other fob real close to the key cylinder but it didn't work. I think it the truck uses the key shaft to energize the chip. What I did not try because I didn't have the presence of mind is putting the working fob version in the cubby under the cupholder and then trying to start the truck, kind of like the method you'd use on the push to start trucks when the fob's battery is dead. I have no idea if the turn key versions will work in the same way. The cubby is there though. I have another one that I'm going to get cut as a backup now that I know this works. I'll try that next time before I program it.
So riddle me this, when I unlock the driver door with my flip key without unlocking via the fob, my truck’s alarm goes off. With this key can I open the door without setting off the alarm if I program it? I would loooove this option since one of the (many) great things about my Crown Victoria is the PATS key that doesn’t need a fob to be carried.
I prefer the flip key over a regular key, its bulkier but doesn't poke around in my pocket like a normal key does. This key would be nice to have if you're close to the water or in water like someone posted above though. This is certainly one of those #firstworldproblems I see on this forum.
