Hey all, currently have my 1989 donor 351w block tore down and awaiting parts. The block came with the engine wiring harness still attached. And seems to be in much better shape than my 1993 f250 351 wiring harness. Can I put the 89 engine harness in the 1993 351 without any issues.
Thanks to any who can answer!
The engine side should be pretty much the same between the two but where they mate to the rest of the under hood harness will be very different. There may also be subtle differences like integrated diodes etc.
Your best bet is to keep the later harness and sensors together on the new donor engine so you don't run into any surprises. I would repair the harness before modifying the other to work.
Assuming you are refreshing the donor engine you would do well to put a better cam in it.
The 89 engine harness won't plug in.. the connector types are totally different where it mates with the chassis harness so even if you had to use it there would have to be considerable time spent with wiring diagrams for both years to sort out what wires go where and to change the main harness connector.
