2020 F250 Lariat Ultimate...Passenger door doesn't always unlock, not with the remote, not by touching the inside of the handle, not by the interior unlock button, the only way is by pulling the door handle. Any one else have this problem?
There is a setting that will allow you to unlock either, only the drivers door, or all doors when using the key FOB, and now that I think about it, I think it's also with the keypad too. So maybe it could also be for the door handle touch too? However, I would think that if you are hitting the unlock button inside the truck then all doors should unlock. So how are you unlocking it now?
It’s the lock actuator. I havent had a super duty yet where at least one doesn’t go out every 2-3 years. I just buy them off amazon and replace them myself. Easy job.
Hello Texmudder, I have a 2020 F350 with what looks like a front right passenger door actuator that is out. No noice of a stuck actuator at all and door only opens from the inside door handle. I was curious if you had replaced any actuators on 2017-and up Super Duties as they seem to be different. Thus far I haven't come across a good description on what is involved in accessing the actuator.
Bump in case anyone looking knows the procedure or can point to a good resource on the procedure for replacing the door lock actuator. My front left is sounding crunchy and doesn't want to work sometimes so I'd like to get it replaced before it gives up completely and I'm stuck crawling into the driver's seat from some other door.
Search on YouTube for F150 door actuator. Depending on the model year it’s the same as other years for Super Duties. It’s insanely common. Super simple on most doors but the driver side is the tougher one.
I didn’t see the reply above this one. Yes it’s a problem with 2017+. When they go out, the door will of course open manually as that’s all with rods and cables. Take the door panel off so that you can reach it, and then if memory serves its two screws from the door jam to release it. Again, not a bad job to do. The driver door is the worse as it has a bit more in there than other doors.
Just in case anyone is interested, I finally started the tear down and replacement of the Right front door lock Actuator. Taking off the door panel was straight forward, but you will also more likely than not have to also remove the window. The whole assembly is connected to the rear window guide which cannot be removed without taking the window out. I found this nice Youtube video showing what is involved.

Did you get this problem resolved? I am having the same issue so i replaced the door latch and actuator and did not fix it. After that I found tested the power to the actuator and only getting power on the lock side, but nothing on the unlock side of the plug. Thinking it might be a bad body control module or door control module but trying to find a detailed wiring diagram first before I take it to the dealership.

Fixed by the dealership under warranty, door latch and actuator replaced.
