Well I just inherited my grandparent's farm truck. No one has passed but they are retiring from the farm world. A white 1996 F250 RWD, 4.9 I6 with a C6 transmission, 4.10 gears. 4/96 build date. Door sticker reflects this transmission (G). Has anyone come across this pairing? I asked the FB group and they had not. Possibly a fleet/special order vehicle but I thought I would check here for anyone with something similar. 139,000 miles but I am working on a dead battery right now so I have no idea if it has anything wrong with it. Definitely some rust but not the worst I've seen... Just very dirty .

it’s rare. And rugged. I would upswap to a e4od or a manual if I were you. But it’s a solid trans and engine pair. Just hard on gas. What’s the gvw and is there a window sticker at all?
so it’s not a unicorn but most c6 were had in things like service trucks to my knowledge. Not many people would willingly option with a 3 speed and 4.10 gears for a daily driver.

since this is a Canadian truck can you show us the veci under hood ? I am curious what it says on it

but a farm truck? Great combo
Sadly this was my thought exactly. Not really sure what to do with it with that combo. I have a 1985 6.9 idi with a C6 and 3.55 gears and that is bad enough. 4.10 I can't even imagine and without 4x4 it's such a niche "I can pull things on the road but super slow with bad gas mileage" type of truck.

you Can do it faster but you’re gonna be dumping fuel to do it and be outside the useful revs lol.
you could lift it and use a tall tire to offset the 4.10. But if you have a 4.10 axle I would personally keep it and just change the transmission to a manual personally. The ecm will work with a manual without much work and the swap is not that involved given all the options. It’s got potential to move some things for many years!
It would be fine for a city truck or runs to the hardware store/big box home improvement. If you needed to cruise for a while, easiest would be to toss an M5OD behind it to gain OD.
How about a gear-vender overdrive? Its an old solution to an old problem. You wouldn't have a Lockup torque converter, but you get an overdrive. I imagine you can find them used for cheap, now-a-days.
I dunno, like I said here recently I'm not a huge fan of the C6. But given that's what's in it now, I'd leave it. The fuel economy difference is just a few MPG, it's not like we're talking 2 vs. 35- and how much fuel can you buy for the cost of a transmission swap? Bear in mind you're gonna need all sorts of nickel-and-dime items other than the trans (excuse me, gender-neutral gearbox) itself.
*IF* you're gonna do a ton of highway mileage, I like the suggestion above for an aftermarket O.D. gearbox. Something else to look into is 3.08 gears, IMO they'd be perfect for this application. If it's just gonna be a "yard truck", the powertrain and driveline that are already there are actually very well suited to the intended use.

can you get a sterling full float(I assume that is what it would have?) in a 3.08? If the OP wants to trade for my 8.8 with 3.08 id come to canada if I were allowed to leave the country (probation) lol
Hmmm, one of the last small block (bell-housing) C-6s ever made...
I'd be tempted to pull it out & put it on a shelf for later sale or a hot-rod project...
Just me though, doesn't apply to your situation.
Did modified engines use the same bellhousing? I almost regret selling my old 77 LTD for how much I did since the new-to-me rebuild c6 had only hundreds of miles since the 90s and the fluid was nice and red and it shifted great. The 400m in front of it was a little malaise but if it could be used on any windsor or 300 I should have kept it lol...
