I just ordered a build sheet from Ford. I was wondering will the build sheet show what axles I have in the truck? I know I have a dana 60 rear with 4.10 ratio and limited slip. The transfer case is a np205, and the tranny in a np435. But I'm clueless as to what the front axle is. At first I thought it was a dana 60 but some say it is not. How can I tell for sure that it is in fact a dana 60. I cant find any data plates or anything on my truck because the doors are different and it doesnt say on the cab plate and there is no plate in the engine bay. I just need something to look for to tell me it is a dana 60. Maybe pics? thanks.
You can email FOrd with your vin#. I did that and it took them about a week to get back to me saying they have it down as a D60. They were very helpful and courteous.
I already have the build sheet coming in the mail. But will it say if I have a dana 60 front? What else can I look for on the axle to tell me? I know that the front GAWR is 4500lbs.
How would we know? You don't specify a year or model or codes for your truck. You could look down in the axle forum for pics of different axles or in a repair manual. The OEM service manuals have illustrations in them of the different axles.
I don't have any listings for 4500# axles in my books.
We can't help you without information to work with.
you should be able to tell rather easily, as it should be cast somewhere around the webbing in your axlehousing, as for what gears, why not pull cover and read? the ford part number off your ring gear should tell all.

I read the GAWR off of the sticker on the cab on the driver side door jamb. But the bottom of the sticker is worn away. The total GVWR is 7400# and the rear is 4***# cant remember.
