1966 window regulator repair

I see that every little bit the powers that be will sprinkle a few regulators for us to purchase. What I don’t see is a lot of information on repairing them. Does anyone have experience with doing this? My driver side is skipping and needs guidance besides the clunky sound when it does work. Thanks all

There are a few repair parts available for the regulator. If your splines are good, you can drill the rivets out and clean it up and relube it. The spring in it acts as a one-way clutch, it gets rusty and gummed up and no longer works correctly. This is the only pic I have of the thing. The one on the right is finished. I used #6 screws with thin fiber lock nuts to put it back on. If you take it apart be very careful with the big spring it can leave a mark on you if it gets loose.

I was having a similar problem. The splines in the crank handle were a little chewed up and the set screw was going into the groove on the inside of the splines, on the regulator. I reset the handle and my problem went away

I had the same problem with my drivers door window that skipped and moved every two or three rotations of the handle. I removed the regulator and the found the teeth on the regulator and the handle were worn out and after failing to find a replacement I found this video
It’s a bit of a mission but worked a treat.
Like Crop Duster said be careful with the spring it’s got a vicious kick on it when loaded

Frankenbuilt, thanks for that video.

Did you use that technique to repair the gear in a slick window regulator?

Hey, sorry don’t know what a slick window regulator is?
I used it on my ‘66. The large teeth on the quarter circular piece (no idea the correct names for the parts) that winds against the door handle.

A Slick, is a nick name for our 61-66 trucks. Thanks for the video, and glad it worked.
