crankshaft position sensor

1984 F-250 351w 2bbl 4 speed 2wd. Looking at the wiring diagram, I don't see an input neither at the engine control module nor the distributor ignition module for the crankshaft position sensor. Although I haven't looked closely, I don't see a wire coming from the crankshaft area. Anyone know if an 84 used a position sensor? Considering "loosing" the emission control stuff. I'd also like some recommendations for aftermarket or ford distributer and ignition module that would be the best fit, or modifications to the one I have..... Thanks...

Ignitions that use a Crankshaft Position Sensor will have a Pulse Ring with 4 lobes spaced 90 deg. apart. It will be on the front of the crankshaft behind the harmonic balancer. The CPS itself is a cylindrical shaped coil wound magnet. It will be positioned under the tip of the pulse ring lobes as they rotate past. The lead wires to the CPS are bundled with the main engine control wiring harness.

Check the decal on the upper radiator support bracket. Does it say "EEC-III" or "EEC-IV" on it anywhere?
