Ignition switch

I ordered a new ignition switch from one vendor and the doors & ign and two keys alike and then the new bezel from another vendor and went to put it together last night.... what a mess!! I ended up bending the key because the cover that keeps the little springs in was too big and it wouldnt slide in far enough. I ended up using pliers to get it tore apart and then had to put it all back together with grease. Also the "switch" part "Made in China" doesnt snap back from START to ON like it should even after WD-40 was applied. The reason I didn all this in the first place was the prior owner sandbalsted and all the switches are full of sand and they dont snap back either. So another big truck night (far and few between) was runined with this and I still have the same sticky switch..............................

For the ign switch, why not try NAPA or CarQuest for it? You can get them locally thru them. Thier stuff is not made in China like the aftermarket vendors. Some of those locksets are still available from Ford if you check with the dealer.

The problem appears to be the big spring in the back is pushing the switch backwards and this is suppose to be pulling the chrome part closer to the dash to keep it snug. However then the key clyinder hickie is rubbing too hard on the chome so I glued the chrome to the dash and compressed the spring alitlle and is seems better,
