Engine Mounts
I putting in a manly 302 with my stock frame. There are 2 basic engine mount kits. The one that is cradle style, with a tube running under the enginewith the mounts on the tube or the type that mount to the frame. Which is better?
second Measurement wise, where do you place the mounts? Do the mounts come with a mounting diagram? Does anybody have any idea where to place the mounts?
The ole truck will be down a few months while I change over engines.
Thanks for your help guys

i used the tube mounts that on end welds to the inside frame rails
and the other welds to the cross member. thay are all ok you just need to be sure which one will fit your other componets
It is advisable to mock it up yourself to be sure. Have your engine with front assembled and your radiator present before you commit. If you are running an electric fan you have a lot of room for error. Mechanical fan and non-stock radiators make precision much more important.
I plan to go electric fan simply because of the flexibility it will allow. Thanks for the tip on the mockup. Grandaddy says measure twice cut oncet. For me more like measure twice, seek assistant to measure twice and send for beer. The sleep and measure again before sending to fab shop.

I'm not sure we have ever made this point specifically here. It's a very good one. If you aren't dodging a steering box or some other object, the crossmember style motor mount is the way to fly, to lessen, if not eliminate frame twist. Not to mention the fact that the tubular style is simple to install. You would have to work real hard to put your engine in crooked with a tube style.
It won't fit many IFS swaps, but the tubular style looks perfect for Cordoba, along with straight axle engine swaps. Or most any IFS that doesn't offer a large crossmember directly under the engine.
