Hello, this is my first time owning a power stroke and I’m stumped on what the issue is. Bought the truck from a ways away and drove it 6 hours straight before it died on the side of the road on me. Was able to restart for 5 seconds then died again. Fuel pump is working, wait to start light comes on. I noticed my HPOP was nearly bone dry so I filled that and cranked but nothing. Refilled it and cranked and nothing. There doesn’t appear to be any smoke coming from the tailpipe when trying to crank it over as well. What should I be looking for??

 

Have you checked the oil level in the crankcase? The HPOP is filled by the oil pump from the crankcase. If the crankcase oil is low and it starved the HPOP, it may take several 10 second cranks to get the oil rails refilled.

 

yes I check and levels are normal. Could LPOP be bad?
