P0170 & P0402 Codes
Is there anything I can do (besides finding another maintenance shop) on my end to solve the problem?
One of the three basic problems that produce this error code is:
To begin, the DPFE (differential pressure) sensor may be defective and should be replaced. In this case, the problem is a defective sensor rather than a performance problem. The simplest and best-case situation is as follows.
Second, the EGR could be obstructed. This blockage is most likely caused by carbon build-up, which can happen over time as particles accumulate, but it might also be caused by something else becoming lodged in that portion of the engine.
Finally, due to a lack of suction, the EGR valve could be broken and not open.
