EPAS STEERING BOX
@33ratrodAs far as horsepower is concerned, I understand. I wanted to add power steering and AC to my inline 6 '67 Mustang and there was not enough power to do both. I had looked at the Borgeson power box/kit option and it is a good kit. I recently installed one on a 1970 Mustang with a 351 Cleveland and it wasn't supposed to fit. After install I measured 5/16" to 3/8" space between the box and stock exhaust manifold.
This morning after I get to my shop, I will measure how short the Prius system can be cut down to. I just cut 3 inches off of it yesterday and it looks like it can be cut 2 more. As far as R&Ps thar have electric assist motors on the racks below the engine, I have only seen pictures of what would go on a very late model Mustang or F150. I think a system off of some compact car would be a possibility. Maybe owners here of small 4ish year old automobile would chime in if their car has an Electric Powered Rack and Pinion Steering. Me not being hands on familiar with Flatheads or Jag front ends, I just don't know how much room there is to work with up under there. If possible, take a picture with a measuring tape from the rack connection up to the firewall where the steering shaft pops out of the firewall. The column would have to be shortened a bit if it turns out that the Prius piece would fit.
ADDED: here is a link to a 2019 Corvette R&P. 2019 Corvette
ADDED: the length of this universal EPAS kit look quite short and this is an all-everything kit. Universal EPAS

It looks like there might be a possible way to mount the EPAS unit on the frame rail and then from the column use a u-joint and short saft making a left towards the EPAS then below coming out of bottom of the EPAS a u-joint and short shaft down the r&p. Firmly mount the unit to the frame rail, maybe kind of inside the frame rail. That looks like the only way around the headers to me.
