95 Ranger Check Engine Light
I have a '95 Ranger XLT 4cyl with auto transmission. I bought it new and somewhere around 20k miles (5-6 years ago) the check engine light came on. It now has about 78k miles on it and I've never done any maintenence other than change the oil every 5k miles. I'm looking to get rid the truck (for an '04 F-150) so now I'm wondering how to turn the check engine light off. I had an '86 ranger that I bought new and sold to buy the '85. When the check engine light came on the '86 I was able to hit the reset button that was located up under the glove box but I don't see the same reset feature on the '95. Anyone know how to turn off the check engine light on a 95' Ranger without taking the truck in for service?

The system is different on the 95, the CEL is indicating a fault. You can try disconnecting the neg battery cable to reset it but if it comes back on you will need to have the codes pulled and the problem fixed to turn the light off.
