On my 21 F350 cab n chassis, the brakes feel like they are sticking when at at a stop sign. Ford tells me it is a new feature. I say Bull**** because it doesnt do it all the time.
Any input on this?
If you have a trailer attached, yes it is a feature. On my 15, it does this whenever there is a slight incline. Need to put foot to “go” pedal to release brakes. Seem less really.
I never noticed it without my trailer, but a 22 is a lot newer than a 15.
Yea, My F-250 does it all the time while on any slight incline. It holds the brakes for a second after you get off the pedal and go for the gas.
Wish they had that in 1973 when I was learning how to drive a loaded truck with a clutch.... would have saved me from learning what burnt clutch smells like....
Isn't that what they call Hill Start Assist, it's not a new feature. It should only do it on an incline, not flat ground. The feature kicks in towing or not, it's included on some of Ford's cars and SUV's too.
Sounds like "Hill Start Assist" to me, in which case either you aren't expecting it or perhaps it's not working just right. I don't know how much of a slope is required to make it activate or how the truck knows about the slope. But I have never noticed my truck wanting to roll while stopped on any kind of a slope.
Yep hill start assist. I think mine holds for about 2-3 seconds if I just let off the brake without applying throttle but I don't notice it otherwise. Does it with or without a trailer.
I have not received my F250 yet, but the Hill Start Assist in my current Chevy 2500HD is similar. It "Activates" if you let-off the brake and the truck doesn't immediately roll forward a little bit. It will occasionally do this when towing heavy, even on flat ground. I've assumed it's because at idle the truck won't pull the load and begin to roll. I don't believe there's any pitch sensor associated with it to assure you're actually on an incline. I think it's just the wheel speed sensors.
This does it on totally flat land. It also releases itself without touching the accelerator. From my understanding there is a switch to activate it when it was optioned with it. I have no switch

There is no switch and it isn't a seperate option, where are you seeing that info? There is a switch for hill decent control but that is a different feature that comes with FX4. I have seen info from Ford saying hill start assist releases after 2-3 seconds, giving more time to get your foot from the brake to the accelerator without rolling back. It doesn't say the accelerator must be pressed to release it.
I only notice it kick in on my truck when on an incline. Even if it's only a slight incline.
The owners manual outlines the operation of the feature. 2019 manual has it on pg.227-228. Should be somewhere in your 2021 manual too.
If you notice it sticking sometime, step back on the brake pedal immediately If it hard and firm it is probably your hillstart assist. If not it may be something else.
