So I read this whole thread and didnt see anyone mention what has actually changed on the 7.3 to get the additional power? Is it just a tune or bolt ons? Now that 23s are out in the wild surely someone can figure it out...

It's only 10lb/ft of torque. You wouldn't even be able to feel a difference between model years.
When the 7.3 first became reality I was hoping for 500lb/ ft. That would have been a good number and easily achievable with the 7.3. Instead of just 10 with this update, I wish they would have did the 25. Still not yet half of what the standard PS makes. And close to the same as the last gen of the 7.3 PS which was just perfect for my needs. And 500 puts it comfortably ahead of the 6.6 Chevy and the destroked 6.8. I would have also matched the Chevy for torque with the 6.8. Maybe the 6.8 has a better torque curve than the 6.6? I digress.
It would have been sweet to have 500+tq but im surprised they gave it any more power for 23'. I had a 22' 7.3 4.30 and now have a 23' 7.3 3.73. I Iove how strong the 7.3 is at low rpm compared to my 17' 6.2, pretty substantial sub 2500rpm tq difference. I like the delete of skip shift for 23' also.
I broke down on the 20th of last month and placed an order for a 23 F350 dually with the 7.3. Looking forward to getting it whenever it gets here. So I’ll have a comparison between the 6.2 in my 19.

I would bet the 7.3 gas with the 10 speed transmission will outperform the 7.3 PSD with the 4 speed transmission.
Yeah I don't know about that. We purchased new a 1988 F350 460 2WD single cab and a new 2002 F250 7.3 PSD 4WD crew cab to replace that F350 460. Pulling heavy loads it was no comparison. BTW... We still own that 2002 F250 7.3 PSD.
I will say that 1988 F350 460 could outpull our 1985 Chevy 25 350 2WD single cab, but it sure drank the gas

Did your 88 have a C6 or E40D? I had an 86 with a C6 and it was a dog compared to my 460/ZF5/4.10.
I'd say. It tops every "worst engine" list out there.[/QUOTE]
I’ve had many 5.4L and they all went over 250k working hard daily. Only have one left and it’s still going strong with only minimal maintenance and regular oil changes. Maybe I got lucky but Then again it’s a 06 (worst year?) and could blow up any minute now.
THANK GOD>. port injection keep the valves clean.. take a look a chev with direct injection.. the intakes are full of junk.. the cylinder deac is ok but not a big deal.. port injection IS.. I bet chev goes away from that..
