1979 LT9000 decode

I'd really appreciate help with decoding my warranty number, or 11 digit vin.

My warranty number is U90AVFB1980.

I'm not sure of the year (I'm hoping someone can tell me) but it is a Ford 9000.

Welcome to FTE!

I'm making this a stand alone thread for the full decode and any other questions you have on this truck.

U90 = LT900 diesel (Badging and shop manual refer to "LT9000") (the "T" = tandem axle)

A = "Detroit Domestic Special Order" Your engine should have identifying info on it.

V = Kentucky Truck Plant

FB1980 = 1979 numerical series, looks like the middle to near the end of '79 production as the last number is FK9,999.

204 = 204 inch wheelbase

SH (is this a two tone?)
S = Bright Dark Blue Metallic
H = Dark Brown Metallic

U904 = LT900 diesel, 50,000 lbs GVWR

QG8 = I do not have upholstery info--appears to lack the butterfly hood but otherwise I don't have a reference.

No transmission code. Since this is a special order, and the engine is already ID'd as special order, the transmission must be part of it. It should have identifying info on a plate or cast into the case.

D2P
D2 = Rockwell (Timken) model SQHD single speed rear axle(s), 38,000 lbs capacity, 4.44 ratio, "W/Hendrickson Suspension"

P = Rockwell (Timken) model FF-903 front axle, 12,000 lbs capacity with power steering

50000 = 50,000 lbs GVWR

B61373

B6 = Ford of Canada, Western (Ford) District Sales Office

1373 = Special Order Number
