2001 F250 with 7.3L - rear lights mysteriously come on / off????? help!

Hey all,
I have a 2001 F250 with 7.3L turbodiesel. I just replaced both batteries in it, and now notice a couple times a day, just the rear tailights come on for a bit, then go out. No rhyme or reason. Anybody ever see anything strange like this? What should I check on it? I have a key fob, and click "lock", and the rear lights still do not go off.....I'm ready to sprinkle holy water on this thing.....WTF is going on?

By "taillights", do you mean running lights, or brake lights?

If brake lights, the most likely explanation (for an older truck) is a sagging brake pedal (which would allow the brake light switch to be intermittently activated). You might jerry-rig a bungy cord from brake pedal arm to underside of dash to help hold the pedal up and see if it makes a difference.

If it's the brake lights, most switches are adjustable, just crawl under and move it back a thread or two, or replace the spring on the brake pedal.
