Stalling Issues
Hello all. I have a 1996 F-350 7.3l auto. I am having troubles with the truck idling fine for a while then all of a sudden the check engine light comes on and it seems to have a little more power. However when I let off the throttle it stalls out. Usually fires right back up[. I have so far replaced the valve cover gaskets, fuel pump, the pedal throttle position sensor, crank position sensor, and IPR valve, IPC valve. I also have tried to pull codes but the reader doesn't show any. I am very stumped and really need the truck to make money. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. God bless y'all. If you get a check engine light there should be a code stored. Most generic code readers won't communicate with these trucks. A lot of folks use Forescan and a dongle to read codes on these old trucks. That said, check to see if the tin nut that holds the electromagnet on IPR is tight. They have been known the fall off, causing stalling.
