I need a lot of help here as im not a mechanic and also have never owned a ford. Ok lets get into this. I have purchased a 92 f150 with a 5.0. That motor has been taken out and the f150 body now has a 97 f250 5.8 motor in it. The f150 transmission is blown and i need to transfer over the f250 transmission. Will this line up or will i run into issues with the drive shaft or electronical issues? Another option i thought of was to just get a refurbished f150 transmission but i didnt know if that would work because it will be hooked up to the 97 250 motor technically. Thanks in advance.
Post the door sticker codes. Highly unlikely it will be a direct swap with that large of a year gap, Ford very rarely lets a model year go by without some kind of tweak to the wiring for large components. You never said if this was an A/T or M/T application- the manual-shift boxes most definitely are not a direct swap between those 2 applications, although all the parts you need are fairly easy to come by and there are relatively few electrical items to worry about. The auto-shift boxes will almost certainly not work with the 1992 wiring harness and PCM, even if by chance the driveshafts match up.
If it was my project, and the F-250 trans is known to be good, I'd sell it and then buy the correct trans from a junkyard or rebuilder.

None of the wiring from the ‘97 would be used. The 302 harness plugs right into the 351W.
You can most definitely install a ZF5 in place of the M5OD. It bolts right in and you can reuse the same driveshaft(s) without change to their length.
The only thing to watch out for would be for an automatic transmission. There was a diode or resistor moved from inside the transmission to the PCM in ‘94 or ‘95. Other than that it is also a direct swap. An E4OD is an E4OD. There wasn’t one specifically made for a 150 and a different one made for a 250/350.
