Removing door panels

does anyone have info on removing the door panels on a 2001 Ranger Edge 2 door? Ive got the trim around the handle off, and the window crank, but there are no other screws holding the panel on. I assume it is held on by clips, but i dont want to just start yanking on it and break something. Thanks.

Most every door panel I've seen, not too many, have all had clips. You should be able to pry up on the side and be able to see the clips, round pegs that slide into holes in the inner metal door panel. You just have to pry them out. A large flathead screwdriver does well. If some part of the door panel doesn't want to come off after you've pryed out the pegs, you may have missed a screw or two. I don't know how your truck is specifically.

I know on my 02 150, I take out the two screws, one under neath the trim on the trailing upper edge, the other behind the door handle, after that, I jsut lift the whole dang panel straight up andVOILA!! (I had to be shown this this weekend when installing a CB I was mounting on the door.)

thanks guys, I figured it out pretty easily when I looked at it again in the daylight. Replaced speakers in both doors in about 10 minutes, didn't think it was that easy.

hey all, new guy here, great info sight, i tried to remove the door panel to get to the speaker in my 2002 fi50 sport, i got the 2 screws out and tried lifting and pulling but it wouldnt come out? is the window crank holding it in? i didnt see any way to get the crank handle off, no spring clips or anything? i'd really like to put in new door speakers myself because it probably is pretty simple once you get the panels off, and i can put the cash i save into the speakers, probably infinity referance 6802s. anyway, any help on the door panel would be appreciated, i know this gets posted alot but i still havent seen how on my truck!!!!! help!!!!beaner

Oh yeah...window crank DOH!! I knew I forgot something..that is a pain in the rear to remove...the handle itself is two pieces, at the center (were it goes into the door) pull out and seperate the two pieces. turn the top piece and take out the screw, you are going to need a star bit for this screw....sorry i forgot to mention that tid bit of information...It took me a few minutes to get it figured out.

wow, that was a fast response, i will try that out, i was twisting and turning but didnt want to break it, i figured lots of folks had power windows and didnt have to worry about it! i just added a 10inch sub and sony xplod 222 watt amp(just for the sub) and now want to upgrade the door speakers, lots of folks seem to like the infinity referance. well thanks again JimmyDean, i'll let yous know how it goes, and now hopefully will be able to help someone else!Beaner

no I run them off of my deck. My deck is pretty powerful, its a Blaupunkt, and puts almost 30 watts RMS. They could definitetly take more power, but I want to strain the alternator with a multi-amp system, and plus its already loud as all hell in that tiny *** truck cab.

I don't know if the Xplod deck has that much juice in it. I would try it out first, and then maybe hook a small amp up to them.

Oh, and they sound amazing. I always thought that the stock speakers were halfway decent, until I got these in. The midrange is so smooth, and the highs are unbelievable. snare drums sound so clean, and you can hear a lot more detail in music with them.
