Wow, I feel your pain, being backed into a corner like that is tough... By the time the silver metal fastener starts to tarnish, and corrode, you will definitely lose a few MPH due to wind drag. I say stick with the black, but keep a good coat of wax on the entire hood latch assy, and fasteners to keep the wind resistance to a minimum.

I like the direction. What about magnetic? Something with a supercharged direct induction electromagnet. With quick release.
