Light nob and odometer questions

Light *** and odometer questions
Hi there Ford Fans. I have a couple questions for all you experts.
I have a 2000 Ford F150XLT and the light *** is broken. I called the dealer and was told that I would have to buy the whole switch for around $53.00. I just need the ***. Do you guys have suggestions before I start looking for the liquid nails?
My other question is about the odometer. It seems to be working fine except it periodically goes blank. What is this about? All of the other displays including the radio are working fine. Suggestions?

Hi and welcome to FTE 
I don't know about the **** thing.
The instrument cluster could have a short in it or the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) could be failing.
This seems to be a common problem on the odometers.
You might try doing a search here for odometers and you will probably find some more threads on this subject.
