Hey Guys, my 2005 F250 5.4 2wd long bed just started throwing a P0183 code. Not other codes are present and the truck is not running poor or misfiring at all. In February a dealership in California replaced all plus and coil packs about 12,000 miles ago.
Now I know that P0183 is a fuel temperature error, but I was wondering what do I do to fix it? I can't seem to find a part for a temperature sensor and don't want to start replacing parts without fully knowing what is going on.
The P0183 indicates that the PCM isn't seeing a valid signal from the temperature portion of the sensor more commonly known as the FRPT (Fuel Rail Pressure-Temperature) sensor. On the schematics for your engine, the documentation calls it the IPS (Injector Pressure Sensor), oddly enough. Never came across that name/acronym before...
Anyway, check the connection for the sensor, especially the BK-YE wire that goes from that connector to the PCM. The sensor is located on the fuel rail on the driver's side.
After that, you could try a new sensor or, otherwise, follow the diagnostic procedure if you have the inclination and gear to do so.
