I have been looking into upgrading from a 2bbl to a 4bbl intake in my 69' F100 off and on for a while now. I am fairly sure it's a 390, as I measured the stroke at around 3.75". This afternoon I found a "S-code 4 Barrel" on Facebook Marketplace. The guy doesn't give many details other than "Fits FE block" and a picture of the casting number (C7AE-9125). I get the impression most FE parts interchange, so I am wondering if this will fit my application. My main concern, after research elsewhere on this forum, is cylinder head to intake port matching. Does that only relate to castings from earlier in the 60's? The casting number on my heads read C8AEH. Any and all help is appreciated.
The S-code will fit just fine. It will make a good torque in the lower rpm range, which is perfect for a truck. Not much in the way of high rpm power. If you're wanting power above 3500-4000 rpm, then look for a cast CJ intake or one of the aluminum Edelbrocks (not the sp2p).
Yeah I won't be building a high winding engine out of this thing any time soon (or maybe ever). I'm more of a "low end torque" kind of guy, so this will be just fine.
