48 F1 Horizontal Anti Rattler

Gents, finishing up assembly on a restoration of my 48F1. I am rebuilding the doors on my 48 F1. I have a question about which side the metal piping should be on for the horizontal anti rattler. I have a set from DCarpenter that has the metal piping on the bottom and the felt on the top. I have a set from MidWestEarly Ford (sourced by Vintique) that has the metal piping on the top and the felt on the bottom.

The DC set pictured is for the passenger side (as far as I understand).

Looking for some guidance as to which is correct. It make sense to me that metal piping would be on the bottom and felt on the top.

Which is correct?

Many thanks in advance.

JimD

I recall metal on the bottom being correct.

Could you take a close-up picture of the area shown below? I've had 4 sets of these from Dennis C and on every one of them, the brush is pulled out from under the metal from bending it there.

Agree, the Vintique sourced ones appear to be better constructed than the Carpenter ones. Trying to get a replacement set of the Vintique's. Incidently, I did also have the same issue you are having with the Carpenter ones on previous build. I used Gorilla or 3M Spray Adhesive in the areas that were coming undone. Spraying the adhesive on to an HF acid brush made it easier to apply as the rattler was already installed.
