Fuel pump pressure

I'm trying to get the 52 running again but I'm carburetor issues again. I get the truck to start pretty easy but in a matter of minutes I get fuel flooding out the top of the carb at the vent. I checked the float and it seems to be set ok. I dont have the glass bowl so I can really see it but I used the little L shaped ruler to check.
I was talking to a guy on the phone and he said it could be too much fuel pressure from the fuel pump causing this. I can get a fuel pump pressure tester but where do I connect it? Most new vehicles you hook it to the fuel rail but we don't have this. So how do I do this with my 223 six, mechanical fuel pump and 1904 carb? Do I pump it inline i was thinking of temporaily removing the fuel filter and putting the gauge there, will this work? I know it should be low 2-4 psi. Also a vacuum gauge can I put the at the vacuum advance port on the carb?

Thanks!

Connect your pressure gauge to the output outlet of the fuel pump. As you state, you are looking for something in the neighborhood of 3 psi.

Not sure why you're asking about the vacuum gauge, but generally you connect those to the intake manifold vacuum port not the carburetor advance. Ignition timing won't flood a carburetor.

Thanks for confirming. I was also told to check my vacuum to make sure it was 18" or higher. I really dont see any ports on my intake manifold that I could use, thats why I was wondering if I could use the port on the carb.

I believe either of these would do for measuring vacuum - but you should really be clear what engine you have - you have a 52 truck, but the 223 wasn't introduced until 54. If original, it should be the 215?

Yep, I have a 52 but sometime in the past someone replaced the engine with a 223, its a 62-64 version the best I can tell. I have electric wipers so someone plugged those two ports as you show in your picture so there is no where I can tell to measure the vacuum. Both of the plugs on my manifold look like they've been in there a long time and I'm too chicken to see if I can get either one out.

thanks again

I've had the truck since 2006 and these two "plugs" have always been in place. I sprayed around them with Carb cleaner yesterday just to see if anything changed and it didnt so I dont think they are leaking.
