E-350 Stalling problem
About a month ago, my dad drove his good running van to the library... he was there for an hour... when he attempted to start his van back up and leave the library... it started, then stalled. Instead of calling someone for help (me), He drove the van approximately 3.1 miles back home... having to start and stall the van numerous times... reaching speeds of up to 10 mph with the van hesistation and shudder/misfire... until he got home. Then he called me 2 days later for help.
I've replaced:
MAF
Intake temp sensor
2 relays near ignition module
neutral safety switch/range sensor
I also poured a bottle of HEET in the gas tank... he later shared the possibility of one his library buddies could've tainted his gas...
Trans oil leaks on one side, tightened up a few loose bolts, and put a little more in since it was a little low.
Now. I can get the van to idle great with either the MAF or Intake temp sensor unplugged. but as soon as I plug back in either sensor while the other is plugged in, it immediately dies.
While the van is idling with one of those sensors unplugged, it sounds as if it's starving for air, huge gulps of air sucking noises enter the intake then it evens itself out eventually... then idles for a good 5-10 minutes, sounding normal, then the air sound comes back ... and wawawawawa dies.
WIth both sensors plugged in, it starts, idles for about 30 seconds to 90 seconds, then that air sound comes about again, loud as can be, then dies.
Fuel pump, TPS, IAC replaced last year.
Did a little adjustment on the gear shifter. no difference really.
In the past, the O/D light would flash on and off at random and the tranny would slip. Pull over, turn the van off, start the van back up and it would go away. He got it serviced for the O/D light last year at a "Mechanic" shop who replaced the... radiator. and then something underneath the steering column that no one remembers. They charged him about $3,500. Ha! New truck i'd say!
I don't have a scan tool. I can't tow the van. Working underneath a palm tree with slippers on and hand tools. What's do think is going on with the van? What can I do?
