1999 v10 timing question
I recently changed out head gaskets on my v10 and now when I’m setting the timing I have a problem. With what I feel is TDC on #1 with the piston up top and number 7 piston up top and I have the heads and cams installed I can’t seem to rotate the motor more than 90* to the left of tdc and to the right of tdc. Am I just off 180*? All of my timing marks seem to be right where they need to be. Dot on crank is at 6 o’clock with keyway bout at 11 o’clock, pass side cam is at 11 o’clock and drivers side came at 12 o’clock. The cams were totally disassembled. Could the cams be off to? Not sure if that’s possible or not? I’m no ford mechanic that’s for sure.

nope I took the heads back off and it still does it. It’s been sitting for 4mo and some water appears to be in the bottom from pulling the heads. I certainly didn’t think it was going to take the machine shop for months to work on the heads. I was able to put a Breaker bar on it and I put my foot on it and I got to roll over it’s just a little tough and the one spot so I don’t know if there’s a little bit of Roston crap and that one particular spot when it rotates or what the deal is but I’m gonna put it back together and cross my fingers
