I'm in the process of going through a Dana 44 in my grandson's '96 F150 4 x 4. Does anyone have a source for all the seals? I have a really good shop manual for the truck but there are a few seals that part numbers are now obsolete. A call to the Bronco Graveyard was no help, they weren't sure either. A list from outboard to inboard on each side would be great.
What seals: wheel bearing, spindle, axle, pinion? All of them or only certain ones? RockAuto probably has them all and from different manufacturers. You can find the part numbers there and look for a better prices. Sometimes the shipping negates the lower price of the part.
When I re-did mine a couple years ago I couldn't find a definitive list as there are too many versions. I just used what came off the truck as a guide to buy replacements. I used National for everything and have been happy.
Consider replacing the axle u joints while you have it all apart.
Pretty sure that I said all of the seals in my original post. Rock Auto has 3 of the possible 9 seals on their site. I will be doing all of the u-joints, ball joints, tie rod ends, shocks, etc. Nothing will go untouched including the rebuild of the differential. I've been at this game for 50+ years. I'll post a list of all the seals when I find them.
I got the wheel bearing grease seals, spindle bearing kit that included both spindle seals and both axle shaft seals from RockAuto. They also list the pinion seal but I did not replace it. I’m not going to spoon feed you part numbers because there are too many brands with too many different numbers. Since you have 50+ years of experience I have no doubt you’ll be fine. Good luck with your project.
My grandson and I have been following this forum for a few years and, as always, there are a few that guys that can't help themselves. My post was merely asking if anyone had a definitive list of seals for a Dana 44. I guess no one has, but, when we finish our project, we will gladly share our information with others. "Spoon fed"? Really?
There is no definitive list of seals for a Dana 44. Not even for a "Ford TTB Dana44" or "Ford TTB Dana44 With Manual Hubs", or whatever particular configuration you happen to own.
I've done the front ends in a number of the OBS trucks, and it's been different combinations of seals basically every time.
