Only today have a found an early MPC for MY 1990. Since the 17 digit VIN was more "standardized", a few things can be gotten from the VIN. For transmission and axle ratios, you need the codes for those that appear on the certification label, or you need to crawl under and look for tags, casting numbers or numbers stamped on the components. These things can change from year to year, so keep in mind this is from a 1990 catalog, published in July 1989 and from another Ford 17 digit decoder, links to which I will post at the end. I am also giving you your own thread on this as it's not an 11 digit code.

1FD = Ford Motor Co USA, incomplete vehicle

Z = Class 8, 55,001 lbs and over GVWR, air brakes

U90 = LT900 diesel, probably badged and referred to as LT9000.

X = Caterpillar model 3406 six cylinder 893 CID diesel engine. (keep in mind this may be different in '93. The engine should have labels and other identifying info all over it)

2 = ignore, Ford check digit

P = 1993 model year

V = Kentucky Truck Plant

A27416 = serial number

You may note that your VIN above is hightlighted. Click on it and you may be able to get on the VIN decoder here. I tried, no soap.

The basic 17 digit--does not cover the heavier trucks but you will see the standardization of the code.
