Kind of OT but if the couple was driving a convertible what would have happened? I've never bought any type of vehicle and expected it to survive a roll over like it had a NASCAR cage. Lot of people driving around here in new Jeeps with the doors removed, I imagine there will be lawsuits after someone drives through one. Sorry for the loss of life but sometimes crap happens. Sorry I'm just ranting.
Tire blow out? They must have been traveling pretty fast to roll over a 3 ton truck. Aside from that, the new electric car/truck boast of more storage but guess what. With a missing engine in the front, what's going to protect you in a front end collision? I saw pix of a Tesla travel up to the steering wheel because the back drop brace on an 18 wheeler is there on the rear. Both front seat driver and passenger were killed on impact. I'm just curious how safe the front area is made because there is no engine anymore in EV's.

My guess is a vehicle crash tested with an engine in place and the same crash tested with no engine, there would be zero difference in the survivability.
I think there are some vehicles where the engine is designed to basically fold down and under the vehicle if the crash is that bad, so that it DOESNT come into the passenger cabin. The sub-frame is designed to facilitate this.
I saw pictures of a wreck of a GM truck I think it was where the engine was separated from the chassis and somebody said thats a design feature...
My Jeep came with a roll cage from the factory...and padding...

Not all Jeeps have a cage, IDK when it changed but at some point it was called a "sports bar" and Jeep specifically said it wasn't meant for rollover protection.
