Do you have an aversion to mechanical pumps?

No just chasing problems. After the truck sits for a few days, it is hard to start so just thinking I could prime carb with electric first.

I've got an electrical one on mine. Mounted on the frame rail under the cab, wired to a 12V fused link.

Can you explain fused link a little more. Is it set up with toggle switch.

Sorry, didn't think to elaborate on that - hadn't had my second coffee yet! Mine is wired into a keyed 12V lead from my fuse panel, but I have a Painless Wiring harness & fuse box. If you still have the factory wiring,I can see how that might get tricky. Might have to tap into one of the wires from the ignition switch & use a relay.

I have an auxiliary fuse panel, https://www.centechwire.com/Auxiliary-Power-Fuse-Panel-AP-1.htm, for a few additional electrical items, including a fuel pump. It is powered by a relay, and only provides power with the key on.

I've used Holley red and Carter pumps. This is probably 13 years ago now and things may have changed but the Holley pumps were garbage. I had two and they averaged about 1000 miles each. The Carter is good. It might be this one, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/crt-p4594. I drive my truck daily and year round, from snow and ice of winter to blazing sun of summer and I need something that lasts for more than 1000 miles..

I can't help with specifics for this generation of truck, but my guess is that the frame rail will be about the only option for mounting.

That's not too far out of the normal range for a carb. Try replacing the needle and seat.

An electric pump is a pretty expensive and troublesome solution to this issue, in addition to adding a little extra danger to the equation.....
