I noticed today that the F-450 does not have the OOMPH the 2012 did, which was deleted and tuned. When rolling, say about 30 and punch it, it would literally push you back in the seat, but the F-450 doesn't do that even with 4.30 gears, it's pretty tame compared to both the F-350 and the F-150. I'm considering getting a tune to give it a bit more OOMPH but not sure which tuner and tunerer to go with. I have used 5Star in the past for the Ecoboost and SCT tuners, but I know there are others out there as well. I know Jody from DP-Tuner did pretty good for my 1999 F350 7.3, but those tunes are a bit pricey as well.

Proven tunes on an EZLYNK tuner will do the trick. Kinda pricey, but what isn’t these days…
I've gotten the impression that the pedal input modification devices, like a banks pedal monster for example, improve the response quite a bit without an actual tune. I've been curious about them for a while. Like you I feel like my F-450 is rather sluggish for how much power it has with the low gears.
2019. Should probably add a signature now that I have it.
Throttle response seems OK to me, its the OOMPH that I got in the 2012 that I would like back. It's that feeling you get when a roller coaster like the Tidal Wave launches. Would also like to firm up the shifts a bit, it feels like a CVT they are so soft, which really isn't good for the plates since that means slippage, but it shifts a LOT better than the 12 did, 3rd in the 12 was almost like 2 gears due to the long delay for the lockup. I don't feel a shift until 4-5.

so the derringer pedal monster is an option. it works well with stock trucks.

The Derringer and the Pedal Monster are 2 different products. The Pedal Monster only removes the lag in the pedal response, it does nothing to increase power but can make the truck feel a lot more snappy because you only need to tap the pedal to get much more significant response. A lot of tuners do this along with their tunes. The Derringer is actually a power adding piggy back tuner. They're compatible with each other but they serve different purposes.
FYI I was just looking on the Banks website and prices are going up 22% next week. Thanks JB.
It always says that and it doesn't. Just trying make you pull the trigger. One trick I learned is if you create an account, add the item you want and go through the checkout process up to payment but exit the site, you will get an email for 10% off. Worked on my last 2 orders.

This works at other random sites as well. Unless I need it pronto this is what I do unless they offer a military discount.
