MY TRUCK HAS 194,000 MILES ON IT. ENGINE IS A 302 V8, STILL RUNS GOOD, EATS 2 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 5-7K MILES. BODY IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE, VERY LITTLE RUST, THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING A NEW ENGINE, HAPPY WITH THE 302, HECK 194K WHO WOULDN'T BE,WHERE CAN I GET THE BEST DEAL ON A NEW 302 V8, AND AS AN OPTION WOULD YOU RECCOMEND UPGRADING TO A LARGER ENGINE AND WHAT IF ANY MODIFICATIONS HAVE TO BE MADE.

As long as you already have a 302, I would recommend replacing with a long or short block. I got my long block from Advanced Auto, they were several hundred dollars cheaper than anything else out there. And you just swap all your 302 parts over, i.e., front cover, damper, intake, exhaust, oil pan, and front accessories.

If you upsize to a 351W, everything will swap and bolt up OK, but you will need a new intake, front cover, damper, oil pan, and a special bracket from Ford to swap your front accessories. If you upsize, you may want to look at getting a crate motor from Ford Motorsports.

Hope that helps,

Slik
