My F350 arrived in Portland Or. a couple days ago ,still not at the dealer though.
I’m wondering what The PDI entails and how long it takes once they start.
Mine took a few hours. I checked the Ford tracker one afternoon and saw that it was delivered the day before. I showed up at the dealership the next day but nothing had been done to it. I took it for a test drive and looked it over, then came back about 2 hours later to do the paperwork. By the time the paperwork was done, my truck was done. That I'm aware of, they basically took all the shipping stickers off, threw the hub caps and the BoxLinks on, filled it up and then washed it.
Pre Delivery Inspection takes about 2 hours
They pay the technician about 2 hours anyway..
He is supposed to check the fluid levels and the tire pressure
He is supposed to drive it and make sure every damn option works (that is the kicker)
Most PDI techs are out to pasture old line techs (PDI is gravy work and they give it to the old loyal to the company techs)
Most are 50 years old or more
So yeah, 2 weeks
The PDI man,
He is supposed to make sure the seats are not torn and check the body panels for quality and paint
Any issue the truck has needs to be documented at that time, or Ford hates it
You look your new dream truck over real close
Try to befriend one of the techs down there
That could be indispensable down the road, if you had any trouble or there were any SSMs on the vehicle
Enjoy lucky one
My truck was delivered after the dealer closed on Monday Sept 13 (2021) but before the dealer opened on Tuesday Sept 14. I took delivery Wednesday Sept 15 about 2:30. I was offered a time before lunch but had already planned my day. All the other vehicles that came in on the same truck were pre-sold and off the lot by the time I picked mine up.
So a PDI doesn't take long if they can do 8 in one day at a small dealership.

Hahahah. I was the 18 year old PDI guy at a Pontiac, caddy, Buick, Olds, Gmc dealership. Everyone I did was completely broke in!
My wife picked up the truck as I was out of town. she said 2 hours because the truck was filthy and she sent it back 3 times for cleaning. She said they also showed her none of the truck features.
My buddies truck arrived today at his dealer. They need to do the PDI and install the Warn winch and the 5th wheel prep pkg,,, how long/hours does it take to install that stuff? I would think both are half day jobs each at least….

My truck hasn't made its way to the dealer yet, but they told me it would be about 5 hours for the 5th wheel / gooseneck package install.

Watched a YouTube on the 5er prep and the guy said it was his 3rd and took about an hour.
