Received a reminder from Ford to have my block heater deleted. Heck I had used it during freezing conditions but then just like the bulletin stated it caused me to replace the GFI outlet. After squaring outlet away I found the truck was causing the fault. Question why spend a day at the dealer to delete heater if it not working? After speaking with my dealer they said I would have drop it off so it would be cooled down for the work. They also advised me about another recall that fix’s instead of deleting. If required to drop off my truck it won’t be for deletion.

There have been 2 recalls and a CSP for that issue. The first recall repair was believed to still be a safety concern, so the second recall was released, superseding the first. That second recall was the delete and only inteded to be a solution until parts became available. Here we are 3+ years later, I wouldn't think the delete is still something they do...unless the block heater cable is still in short supply.

Truth be told I prefer to keep my truck out of the dealership if possible. This seems to be a risk with no reward. Truck is good without block heater. Only risk is when it is plugged in to power. Too bad it is nonfunctional I’ll manage. Thanks for your response.
If you have no use for the block heater then there isn't really a point to taking it in. As long as you don't plug it in it's not a safety concern. You could also do the delete yourself if there was some concern over someone else plugging it in. All it involves is removing the prongs from the plug end with pliers, adding silicone sealant to the plug end and cap, then capping it off.
But for someone else who has a use for the block heater, it would be worth a trip to the dealer for the replacement part to be installed.
Not familiar with this recall as my truck was not built with one. However, I did have the dealer install a heater after I took delivery. What exactly is the safety issue? Also, would the heater the dealer installed have the same issue as the "as built" units?

It only affected certain 2017-2019 Super Duty's. If your dealer installed one after early 2019 you have nothing to worry about.
