Dustin
PS just curious but I know it is a FAST truck
I've got no clue. As to I have a 86 F150 with a 302EFI 4spd with 3.00:1 rear. In third I can leave a friend of mine in the dust. His 94 Chevy shuts down at 120. I've never found my top end in 3rd, So i dought I ever will in 4th and don't think I want to when we walked off and left him in 3rd like he was settin still at 120. So with you have a OD tranny I wouldn't put it pass runnin the 120 or so mark either. dependin on the year of that dodge It probably shuts down right at 100mph.
I don't know how fast my truck goes either. I got the '86 f-150 302 with 1-5/8" primary tube equal length headers, and a bunch of other go fast stuff. The speedometer cable broke because it was always buried. It only read to 85mph. Even so I know It hauls *** especially on the highway. 3.08 is the ratio with the C6 tranny. I drive around like the road is mine!! Compared to new economy cars and all the governors our gov't puts in them my truck is like a freakin' nascar. I know just from feeling that it gets up wayyy over 100mph. If I took an educated guess I would say it will hit like 125-130 if I really stand on it- and thats' probly conservative!! Keep in mind the front of these things are like parachutes! Mines in stock trim and I always got the windows down. Wind whips through the cab like a G**damn hurricane.
At the electric shop I work at we have a whole fleet of FORD trucks. My favorite is the 98 F-250. It has a AOD trans, and a 5.8L motor. That truck can really go!! My brother paced it onetime with a car and it hits 110mph with ease but it has a governor and shuts down. I bet without that governor it could hit 130+ no problem and get there fast, too.
I dont think you have a govnor on an 86 just a rev limiter so if you had the room and the stupidity i think itl do about 150 topend pedal to the floor but once your goin that fast you are not stoping in any reasonable distance My 86 f250 3.55 gears extended cab long bed 460 c6 33 inch tires weighs 5980 with me in it and i have had it up to 110 but no overdrive taller tires and lower rpm range. ps its scary up there with all that steel
86BB, My 86 doesn't even have a rev limiter. I'm like you Even know my truck is a shortbed flareside it's to heavy in my book to be running these speeds. When we had mine up over 120 It didn't seem like we was running that fast Since it was on a freashly redone road so it was smooth. We though the other guy back out of the throttle on his truck, When we all met up at store we was all heading to and he told use he never let up, It spooked us knowin we was running that fast and haven't tried since.
