Illegal, yes. Hurt the truck, no. It can handle that.

For 10 miles? I don't think you will have much of an issue.

IMHO, the most critical failure points in towing overloaded are overheated transmission and brakes. In 10 miles of towing on relatively level streets I don't think you're going to have time to hurt either.

Is this a bad idea? I’ll be on city street for 10ish miles. I don’t want to hurt/damage anything on my truck. I can make 2 hauls if I need to lighten the load, ide just rather not.
I got a 6.7L, 18 f250 CCSB, I have personally towed 24500lb gooseneck trailer all over western NC for 5k miles. With my track loader, and 13k excavator. I did tow once for 30 miles my bobcat e88 (machine alone is 20k), for a total trailer weight of 27500k. It handled great, and stopped excellent. My trailer brakes work so great I can pull the manuel brake on trailer brake controller and stop the entire rig without truck brakes if I want. I know 90% of the people here will **** a brick becuase they do not understand DOT. But beleive it or not my f250 will pass an inspection with my bobcat e88 on there. They only care about weight distribution on axles, your tag covering you total rig weight at time of stop, and your tires in spec.
also, I got a 22 f450, and I feel just as confident towing 24500lbs in the f250 as my f450. In fact the 250 will be moving a machine tomarrow.
My GCWR is 35900 and I'm under that.
here is the pics.

Great frame of reference, thanks for sharing. Your set up looks real nice. I’ll be sure to load the trailer appropriately. It’s a massive trailer, 42’ long and 30k GVWR. If you look waaaay up there, you can see my truck 😁

I wanted the 4.30 gears on my 22 f250 cclb 7.3 but it wasn't available unless I switched to the smaller gas engine. How did OP get this combo?

I don't recall 4.30 being a 6.2 option at all. Always a 7.3 option.

Not in October of 21 when I was building mine

ETA: Nevermind. I shouldn't post when I'm exhausted. I wanted 3.73 gears, not 4.30

Maybe air up the rear tires to like 75-80psi if its only asking for 65.

max air on all tires according to the sidewall.
Increase your distance from the car in front.

Anticpate cars pulling in front of you.

Use tow/haul and exhaust brake and that is it. The recommendations in the towing guide is not the final rule on how much you can tow.

Your drivers license, registraion for truck and trailer, axle ratings on truck and trailer and gvw of the trailer are.

I have hauled that much weight a short distance with my truck, closer to 20k lbs of trailer and mini ex. The truck did just fine, nobody died or went to prison... As mentioned, make sure you have the rear tires up to 80 psi and the truck will handle it just fine.

Sounds like a nice truck (ordered mine 1/21 and received 3/21)
