Check those cab mounts!
After my most recent trip to the deer lease I developed an awful squeak and clunk in the passenger rear of my cab. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what it was until I noticed that my cab mount looked like it was missing a chunk. I looked at the others and noticed some looked similar. After some research, I realized how common a problem this is and how bad Fords design is! I ended up picking up a set from S&B silicone from Summit and put them in last night. (Mine was easy. Only 1.5 hours compared with others who have a lot of trouble)
Holy Crap! Not only did it fix that problem that developed lately, but I didn’t realize how many noises and little cab vibrations I had before. It’s like a brand new truck now.
Moral of the story is check yours. They may have deteriorated so slowly that you don’t realize how bad things have gotten. The crazy thing is their failure on the 2004+ seems to simply be a matter of age. My truck is a 14, only has 68k miles and has always been garaged… some some of them were completely toast. My cab was also a 1/4” lower than my bed and I never noticed until I did the research on the cab mounts.
