Hello everyone: So I wanting to add a Lightning Supercharger to my 2003 5.4L Fx4 and have done all the research and gathered all the info I need but one thing. Does anyone know how much LB.FT.TQ. that a BorgWarner 4406 transfer case is rated for? As far as the research I did I found that I probably have a borg warner 4406 transfer case. I couldn't find anything so hoping you guys know something that can't been posted. Thanks!
I do not know for exact sure but it should be roughly 330 Ft. Lbs.
The trans is weaker
Especially if an automatic (your planetary gearset will explode around 300 Ft. Lbs.)
Not to say it will not handle 750 Ft. Lbs. or so (it is like catching a 20 pound fish on 3 pound test line)
Used to see a few transfer cases blow up behind propane enhanced 7.3s back in the day
They were probably pushing 7 or 8 hundred pounds thru them and a few blew up
Ford came out with a bulletin that said they were done warrantying blown up transfer cases
I doubt you will find an actual torque spec for that case.
