Should I do it?

Having some mixed feelings all of a sudden. I was mistakenly ordered a f350 lariat first of the year, and was able to do it without putting down a deposit (explanation below). Dealership called yesterday and said my truck was in, but I’m having some mixed feelings as the current truck I have (2015 F-350 XLT) only has 84,000 miles and is paid off. You guys think I’d be stupid to not pull the trigger on the new one?

It's your $ and your truck, however if you decide to not take the truck you're going to net the dealer a nice markup on the truck and you will be one of the people contributing to clogging the ordering/delivering delay that we've seen the last year or so by ordering and not buying.... I guess I don't understand why someone orders a truck with only intentions of maybe buying it unless plans or life changes, which doesn't sound like the case for you....

well to be completely honest it was the dealership that screwed up, which is why I didn’t put down a deposit. I originally went down with my old man to help him build one and instead of ordering just my dad’s they ordered one under my name without me knowing until i got the email from ford. I think they did it on purpose in hopes I wouldn’t want it so they can mark it up and sell it.

So your first post says you ordered a new truck and was able to do it without a downpayment. Your next post says you didn't order it but the dealer ordered it without you knowing it. If you did order it, the right thing to do is follow up on your word.

Yeah your story isn't lining up here. Did you or did you not order the truck? If the dealer ordered in your name report them to Ford, if you ordered it then its up to you what you did but my first post remains valid in this case.

Did you give them your drivers license so the order is COVP? My dealer required no deposit.

I'm in the same boat as you as it's taken long enough to get the truck, things have changed and I don't need the dually now. Too late to change. However, prices keep going up and I have a PCO so I'll take the truck anyway since it will likely never be any cheaper than now.

So, is this dealer going to sell you this mistakenly ordered truck at sticker or less???
Do you want a new truck?
Your old truck should be worth a nice piece of change for trade-in or sell it outright for even more.
Buy it, don't buy it, you have to man up and decide, doesn't matter what anyone here thinks you should do.

Thats exactly what they did. But did it without my approval. Glad to hear your in a similar boat as me. I’m with you. I’ll most likely be taking it.

nah...dont buy it...let someone that needs it buy it off the lot.

I wanted 4 things on my new truck and ater a few hours found one 3 states away. when there and bought it. the truck was an ordered truck that the customer backed out of. there was 40 miles of follks driving it imagining that they could afford the truck. the dealership was happy to sell it since it was a high ticket item that didnt fit their customer demographics. they gave me top dollar on my trade and sold my trade 3 days later for 7k more than what they gave me. your ordered truck will sell nd the traade involved will m ake someone happy. brain fart over.

After reading the issues people are having getting them in. I better take it!

My thoughts and what I would do. You have a 7 year old truck with only 84k miles on it that is paid for, I'd keep driving it for another 7-10 years. You have already taken the big hit on depreciation, and if you buy a new one, you will take the hit again, as this market is gonna go back to normal. Unless you have a big pile of cash to buy the new one. I'd rather get all the live out of a truck, and use the savings for other things like a boat, camper, lake house etc.

Thats how I do it, I'm driving a 2002 Chevy that I bought new that has 267k miles on it. It's been towed once, and paid for since 2006. With the money I didn't pay on a new truck every few years, I was able to save for this one, and have money for other stuff.

I'm excited for my Lariat that is scheduled for tomorrow, but kinda sad to get rid of the truck that took my kids on every vacation they've been on, and they are in college now.

Mine has yet to be scheduled, no VIN, nothing, so I am tired of waiting and it wouldn't be the truck I ordered anyway thanks to the MC seat delete. Instead I think I may buy a new 22 F450 King Ranch I discovered for MSRP. I will know for sure on Saturday. Someone will buy it, but as I look at more and more trucks for sale I found the markups are going away on new ones. Out of a half dozen new F450 in my search area, 2 are at MSRP, the rest over 6 figures with price drops posted. There is a downside to price drops, used prices are also on the way down which means trades are down. If you can hold off on purchase, sell outright then buy. If this deal for the F450 isn't to my liking, thats what I intend to do as well.

Ford dealer near me has a white F450 I didnt see if it was a limited or Platinum but it has a $3k ADM making it $101k. The only other trucks on their lot are used. A 22 Lariat 4k miles sticker $73k their used price $92k. If its MSRP or below grab it.
