I’ve got a 78 f250 4x4 with a c6, hopped in it and tried to put it in gear and it just moved freely. If I push the steering wheel back down into the column it will engage and go through the gears. I’m thinking in the turn signal assembly there’s a snap ring or something that came loose because I can see grooves on the steering shaft but I’m at a loss and don’t really know what I’m looking for. Any advice would be appreciated, I don’t think I can scratch my head much more.
There should be a bearing in a retainer that slides against that keeper above your thumb which are held by a snap ring. Same bearing is used on the lower end of the rod.
Pretty hard to explain, but there are 2 t bolts that grab and tighten the 2 tubes together, hope someone else can post a picture or something. hopefully they aren't gone.
