Your engine is going to grenade at 5,001 miles if you don't change the oil. My cousin's uncle's friend's nephew that works at a dealership and said so.
I buy a couple 5 qt jugs of Penzoil Platinum Full Synthetic listed at WalMart for 22.97/ea compared to Motorcraft Semi Syn at 22.98 so it is actually CHEAPER for me to run full synthetic in my truck over the Motorcraft....Non synthetic jugs are right at $20... Almost no difference in price between any of them. I thought your last experience at the dealer would have you shopping smarter LOL
Well, you are running a gas engine, synthetic for those is cheaper in general than diesel synthetic.
And, I wouldn't compare any non-Ford brand oil prices to aftermarket, Motorcraft isn't cheap.
And, my unfortunate experience at the Deale Quick Lane had nothing to do with the oil change, and I will keep using them for oil changes since they use the Motorcraft oil and are cheaper than I can do the changes myself, and I don't have to fool with waste oil and filters or lay on my back in the driveway to do the changes.

Well you don't have to be mad about it...
I just looked up Motorcraft 10-30 diesel and it was $32/gal Rotella T6 5w-40 was $34/gal so even though diesel oil is more the difference between conventional and synthetic remains small if you are will to stray beyond the Motorcraft brand, which is not required or proven to be any better. T6 is a well proven synthetic and the price difference from what you are using is insignificant as I correctly pointed out earlier.
I know your experience at the dealer had nothing to do with the oil change, just ribbing you but that was obviously lost...
I MUCH prefer to do my own maintenance because I do not have any faith in the generally underpaid employees doing it in a dealer shop. YMMV
It's been a few years, but I asked about the price of the Motorcraft 5W40 from a Ford dealer and it made the Motorcraft 10W30 or even Rotella T6 5W40 look like chump change. I would have the dealer change your oil with your standard Motorcraft 10W30 diesel oil, and run it the entire duration of your trip.

The Motorcraft jug is actually 1.25 gallons (5 quarts).
I also prefer to do my own maintenance as I can't resist draining the sump and filling with new oil.
I doubt that the truck IOLM has any idea what you are putting in. In theory, full synthetics should provide a longer service life, but I bet the monitor will go off at the same time regardless of weight or syn vs dino.
Now, does anyone know where I can find some Rostella T6 5/40?
Keep an eye on your local Home Depot. Mine is showing 17 gallon jugs in stock at $24.98 each. That's about $1-$2 more than it usually is.

Mad? No, you haven't seen me mad.
And, the dealer Quick Lane has a pre-paid oil change deal, 4 oil changes with motorcraft oil and filter for $224, can't beat that.
As far as them screwing it up, I watch the tech as he works. Worst I've seen them do is make a little mess removing the filter and oil running down making a mess, but they cleaned it up.
