From what I am reading and understand, the 22 trucks run higher fuel rail pressures which in turn creates a cleaner burn along with different programming on the egr system to keep the dpf system cleaner.
My question is could the ecm on an older truck say the 17 or 18 be reflashed to get the same effect?
How much hardware is different between the trucks.
To handle those much higher injection pressures, Ford changed the pistons to ones that use a steel crown instead of aluminum.
So, the older style pistons might break or collapse under those higher pressures.

you cant flash a 17 or 18 with a 22 tune....there are mechanical differences between the 6.7 engines.
what you can do is get a derringer tuner which does exactly what you are looking for.
with one exception....if you do mostly local driving in which you engine coolant temps never reach operating temps....then the derringer would not be good for you...the derringer does not kick in until after engine operating temps are achived.
