Rear Axle upgrade
So I’m new to the upgrading my truck and I need some help. I have a 2007 Ranger 3.0 2WD. I am wanting to lift my truck, keep the rim size at 15”, and increase my tires to a 32”. My question is would I need to re gear the rear diff? if I do which ratio or axle should I go to?

You can calculate the effect a larger tire diameter will have on your performance, acceleration and fuel economy. You probably want to increase to a 4:10 ratio. What tire you have now, what is the axle ratio and is your Ranger M/T or A/T?

Do the lift and tires first and don't forget to recal the speedo, then decide if it needs more gear. Our 04 has 4.10 gears with the M5OD and 235/75R15 tires and I wouldn't hesitate to run 31's or even 32's with this combo.

Look inside the wheel to read the wheel width. It is probably 7". If you go to P27570/15, the sidewall will grow 1" on each side and the diameter will be 31.7" When Rangers offered P265/75R15 tires, they restricted that to 4.0L and 3.73 axle because of the lack of performance the 3.0L displayed with larger tires. You can try the lift and tires and then decide if you can live with the 3.73 or look for a 4.10 to swap.
